Original ‘Ghost in the Shell’ Anime Film Begins Hulu Distribution

Ghost in the Shell 1995 FilmWe’re closer to the the time that this film takes place in than when it came out, which is a scary concept for some. Originally in theaters back in November 1995, Manga Entertainment has now brought the Ghost in the Shell film to Hulu in its English language dub form for fans to check out. The film comes from Production I.G. as directed by Mamoru Oshii based on the screenplay by Kazunori Ito, all of which is based on the original manga series by Masamune Shirow.

The film eventually inspired a two season TV series, an OVA series and a couple of other films as well. It’s currently being adapted for a live action release in Hollywood by DreamWorks with Rupert Sanders directing and Scarlett Johansson cast as the lead.

Plot concept: Now featured in stunning high-definition, this edition celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the original manga. It is 2029 and a female cyborg hunts a hacker who robs human of their memories.
