‘Baby Steps’ Anime Cast Grows Again

2 min read

Baby Steps Season 2 HeaderWith the nature of a sports series like this one, it’s no surprise that the second season of Baby Steps has additional casting news that will hit regularly as new players are gone up against. We learned last month that Megumi Han was taking on the role of Marcia O’Brien while Hiroshi Kamiya will be playing Alex O’Brien. Now word has come down that Takuya Eguchi will be playing Atsushi while Natsuki Hanae is coming on as Krishna Ramesh. The NHK official series site revealed a few weeks ago that the series will run for the same amount as the first one, coming in at twenty-five episodes. It’s set to premiere on April 5th, 2015.

The series is an adaptation that’s from the sports manga by Hikaru Katsuki that debuted for the spring 2014 season. NHK produced it for their E-Tele channel with Kenji Saito handling it. The series is one that like many sports shows just aren’t heard all that much about for North American fans, but the title began back in 2007 and has shipped thirty-three volumes so far. That’s a lot of material to work from, even for a sports series.

Crunchyroll simulcast the first season of the series.

Plot concept: Baby Steps centers on a honor student named Eiichiro Maruo who becomes frustrated with his life and decides to join the tennis club. Despite lacking experience and physical strength, he utilizes his studious nature to develop a strategic approach to playing tennis. Taking notes of his opponents’ habits and tendencies, he is able to predict their next move before they even react. He also meets Natsu Takasaki, a beautiful girl with a passion for tennis. With her help, he aims to become a professional tennis player.
