Things are slowly but surely picking up for iZombie as the series got its premiere date earlier this month with a March 17th, 2015 debut on the CW, joining its Tuesday night lineup. Now that things are moving along, the CW has brought out a new thirty second spot to run on its shows that are coming back after the midseason break to start raising awareness for it. And on the positive side, it has mostly new material that we didn’t get to see before!
The original book ran for twenty-eight issues beginning in 2010 as written by Chris Roberson and initial artist Michael Allred. Four collections were released previously. The live action adaptation isn’t working directly off of the books and stories within but rather taking most of the elements and going forward in its own direction, notably in changing the lead character from a gravedigger to a med student working as a coroner.
The series stars Rose McIver as Olivia “Liv” Moore, Malcolm Goodwin as Clive Babineaux, Rahul Kohli as Dr. Chakrabarti, Robert Buckley as Majoy Lilywhite and David Anders as Blaine DeBeers, with “Veronica Mars” executive producers Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero-Wright
Plot concept: A med student-turned-zombie takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity, but with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.
