2 min read

Lupin the 3rdKodansha is doing something a bit fun and unexpected with the Lupin the 3rd property in the form of a biweekly DVD magazine release of Lupin the 3rd. The publisher is working from material from the original 1971 series and the 1977 series by bringing out new installments every two weeks with special material in it, such as an interview with Monkey Punch, for just 760 yen each. Each magazine will have unique aspects to it, including artwork and interviews, to entice fans to check out what they’ve seen before in a new way or for first time viewers to get hooked on the classic property ahead of the new series later this year. Each installment looks to contain four episodes.

A series of promo spots for it have arrived that vary in length up to a minute to highlight various characters and aspects of the original anime work.

Check out the Japanese page that talks about it all here.

Plot concept: Lupin III chronicles the adventures of Arsene Lupin III, the world’s greatest thief, and his partners in crime: master marksman Daisuke Jigen, beautiful and scheming Fujiko Mine and stoic samurai Goemon Ishikawa XIII. Lupin and his gang travel around the globe in search of the world’s greatest treasures and riches and always keeping one step ahead of the tireless Inspector Zenigata, who has vowed to bring Lupin to justice.
