Simon Pegg Will Co-Write Third ‘Star Trek’ Film

1 min read

Star Trek 3 HeaderAs we close in the 50th anniversary of Star Trek with the third film in the new timeline, it’s been fairly chaotic in terms of who is actually aboard the project outside of the cast for it.

The film lost its director in Roberto Orci a few months back over creative differences with the script and then Paramount brought in Justin Lin of Fast & Furious fame to direct it. Now word is that cast member Simon Pegg will be co-writing the script with Doug Jung. Jung is the lesser known commodity in a way here as he’s the creator behind the Dark Blue TV series and has a filmwriting credit for Diamond. Pegg, on the other hand, is definitely an interesting addition to the writing side as he’s worked on several films in this role such as The Worlds End and other films in that trilogy.

As one might guess, Scotty might have a bigger role in this film…

The film is scheduled for a July 8th, 2016 release date.
