It’s not exactly a pricing war that’s suddenly going on, but things have certainly altered a bit when it comes to fans wanting to get access to anime while saving a few bucks. FUNimation previously offered their EVS streaming program for the $7.95 price point per month and that was pretty much allowing you to see everything, from new streams, dubs and the recent Broadcast Dubs. That program is continuing, but it’s being rebranded as the All-AccessPass.
What’s being introduced new is a SubPass, which will be priced at $4.95 per month. This is pretty much the same thing, but just for the subtitled shows only – no dubbed material. With some fans wanting to pay only for that material, this gives them the option to do it and save a few bucks a month. And with FUNimation simulcasting more shows than ever this season, it provides a very affordable way to consume immense amounts of anime.
FUNimation may be best known for its dubs, but we know that people have different ways of consuming anime. While we include subs on home video and as part of our streaming service, we’ve never really had a product specific to sub fans – until now!

You see this an option that really makes sense since a few anime fans are not always as excited about as the English Dubbed as some would have you believe.
Subbed is way better. And Dubbed is just a nice extra but for those of us watching the latest airing anime per season coming newly from Japan this option with the SubPass makes more sense. Besides being such a good price point.
