Madman Entertainment Adds ‘Absolute Duo’ For Winter 2015 Anime Lineup

Absolute Duo HeaderMadman Entertainment is getting some of its ducks in a row for the winter 2015 anime season as they’ve picked up the simulcast rights in Australia and New Zealand for Absolute Duo. The company doesn’t have a start date or time for it yet on their AnimeLab service but it’ll be coming soon. The series has had North American simulcast rights picked up by FUNimation and select European, Middle East and limited African distribution through Crunchyroll.

The debuted on January 4th, 2015 debut on AT-X in Japan. It’s based on the light novels of the same name written by Takumi Hiiragi-boshi with artwork by Yuu Asaba. It’s set to be produced by studio 8Bit for the animation. The series has seen a manga adaptation already and the fifth volume of the light novel series came this spring and there’s a second manga spinoff as well. The series is being directed by Atsushi Nakayama based on scripts by Takamitsu Kouno and character designs by Keiichi Sano. Norie Takana is serving as the animation director for the series.

The cast for the series has been previously announced with Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Tōru Kokonoe, Nozomi Yamamoto as Yurie Sigtuna, Ayaka Suwa as Tomoe Tachibana, Ayaka Imamura as Miyabi Hotaka, Haruka Yamazaki as Lilith Bristol, Haruka Tomatsu as Imari Nagakura, Yukari Tamura as Rito Tsukimi, Yui Horie as Sakuya Tsukumo, Natsuki Hanae as Tora and Yoshihisa Kawahara as Tatsu.

Plot concept: After losing a loved one, Tooru Kokonoe enrolls at Kouryou Academy so as to gain a <>, a weapon that is his soul manifestation, for the sake of revenge. He was expecting a weapon… What he got was a shield… How is he to seek revenge with something that isn’t even a weapon?!
