All Japanese ‘Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior’ Anime DVD/BD Covers Revealed

2 min read

Kawai ComplexWhile the seventh and final volume of the Pony Canyon released series Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou, aka The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior, was supposed to be out this month, it got bumped to January 21st, 2015 instead. But that bump also finally netted us the final cover for the series so we now have all seven of them available to check out. And to wonder what artwork Sentai Filmworks may have access to when they get to their release (even though we expect it to be the standard promotional image you see along the right here). All these covers and the box were specially illustrated by original creator Ruri Miyahara, giving them a very different feeling than the animation itself.

The thirteen episode series is getting a seven volume release beginning on July 2nd, 2014 with new volumes coming out monthly from there. The DVD releases are set to be priced at 5,500 yen each while the Blu-ray releases are priced at 6,400 yen each. The box came with the first volume and had some extras such as a manga by the original creator. Extras for the release as a whole included specials, an audio commentary, pin-up cards and booklets.

Sentai Filmworks has acquired the series for North American release previously and it is previously simulcast on Crunchyroll and Hulu.

Plot concept: Living away from home can have its perks, especially when you’re just a kid: no parents, no rules, no curfew! Add the fact that you just – miraculously – moved in right next to the girl of your dreams and it sounds too good to be true. Naturally, things that sound too good to be true usually are. Kazunari Usa’s independence arrives by way of his parents’ new job placement. However, with this newfound freedom come the shackles of responsibility, and his hopes and dreams are soon dashed when confronted with the indecent behavior of his lecherous neighbor, Shirosaki. Usa promised he wouldn’t complain if he could just live on his own… he just didn’t expect so much drama. Not only do Usa and his dream-girl Ritsu attend the same school, but Ritsu’s grandaunt, the landlady Sumiko, tries to give Usa weird relationship advice regarding the two. To top it all off, everything is upended when Usa meets Mayumi, an older, flirty woman that he runs into on the street. Will Usa’s fantasy of a normal life ever become a reality?
