The slow release for Code Geass: Akito the Exiled can certainly be frustrating, but fans of the four part OVA series have something fresh and new to savor over today. Set for release on May 2nd, 2015 in theaters with a home video release to follow, the first promo for the third installment has finally arrived. Clocking in at just under two minutes, it provides a good look at lots of new animation and the various story points that are going on at the moment. The episode was originally going to get a March 2015 premiere, but was pushed back after the second episode got pushed back significantly previously.
The show has been picked up for release in North America by FUNimation and has been licensed in Australia by Madman. The original series was licensed in North America by Bandai Entertainment but has fallen out of print since the closure of the company. FUNimation picked up the rights to both properties back in the summer of 2013.
Plot concept: The story takes place in Europe in the year a.t.b. 2017. A Knightmare unit made of boys and girls from Area Eleven are thrown into a military operation with a 5% chance of survival. They must rescue an allied unit left behind on the European war front.
