Now that we’re less than a month away from Agent Carter, Marvel has brought out a look at what the first two episodes stories will be about. The series was originally billed as an eight episode event series, and it still is, but they’ve shifted it to a seven week run by doubling up on the episodes for the premiere night on January 6th, 2015 in order to make it a bigger event. Hence, we get the story synopsis for the first two episodes instead of just one.
The series stars Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, James D’Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, Chad Michael Murray as Agent Jack Thompson, Enver Gjokaj as Agent Daniel Sousa and Shea Whigham as Chief Roger Dooley. It’s executive produced by Christopher Markus, Steve McFeely, Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Jeph Loeb.
In the episode “Now is Not the End,” Peggy is contacted by old acquaintance Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger”) when he is framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons and can trust no one else. To help Peggy clear Stark’s name, he insists his butler, Edwin Jarvis, be at her beck and call–whether she likes it or not. But the risk is great: If caught, Agent Carter could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison…or worse.
In the episode “Bridge and Tunnel,” Howard Stark’s deadliest weapon has fallen into enemy hands, and only Agent Carter can recover it. But can she do so before her undercover mission is discovered by SSR Chief Dooley and Agent Thompson?
Series concept: It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life–Steve Rogers.
