As we inch closer to the end of the first half of Akatsuki no Yona, FUNimation has made their way back round to this series with a new subtitled clip for the show. Localized as Yona of the Dawn, the series is turning out to be a pretty decent one and you can read Kate’s take on the show far with out reviews here. FUNimation simulcasts the series on Tuesdays at 11am ET here.
The series will run for two seasons over the course of half a year. The manga began in 2009 in Hana to Yume and is still ongoing with over eleven volumes so far. The anime adaptation is being produced by Studio Pierrot with scripts by Shinichi Inotsume. The cast includes Chiwa Saito as Yona, Tomoaki Maeno as Hak Son, Junko Minagawa as Yoon, Masakazu Morita as Ki-Ja, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Shin-Ah, Junichi Suwabe as Jae-Ha, Hiro Shimono as Zeno and Yuusuke Kobayashi as Soo-won.
Plot concept: Akatsuki no Yona centers around the princess of the Kingdom of Kouka, Yona. Despite her father’s disapproval, she’s in love with and plans to marry her cousin, Soo-won. However, her world gets turned upside down on her 16th birthday, and she is forced to flee from the palace. Now, with her friend and bodyguard Hak, Yona must set out on a journey to find out and fulfill her destiny.
Yona of the Dawn is on my to-buy list! I really hope it becomes a Dvd/Blu ray combo pack! And I cannot wait for Funimation to license Kamisama Kiss season 2. My wallet it ready!
