‘The Walking Dead’ Companion Show Casts Another Lead

2 min read

Cliff CurtisWhile operating under the name Cobalt for now, there’s a bit more casting news that has arrived for The Walking Dead companion show on AMC. After recently revealing the director for the pilot and the casting of Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey to the pilot, the first adult character has been cast as well. Joining the pilot is Cliff Curtis from Gang Related and Missing, where he’s taking on the role of Sean Cabrera, a divorced teacher who is described as a good man who tries to do right by everyone in his life.

The kids are set to play Nick and Ashley Tompkins, which you can see the character descriptions for below. Debnam Carey was previously in the Galyntine pilot for AMC that was passed on and Dillane is the sont of Stephen Dillane, who plays Stannis on Game of Thrones.

The new series, which is looking to take place roughly in the same time period as the main show but in a different location, is co-created by Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson. To bring it to life, they’ve brought on Adam Davidson, who has been around for quite a few years doing a lot of TV directing, including Hell on Wheels, Fringe and a variety of dramas such as Grey’s Anatomy and Parenthood – and even a dash of comedy such as Community.

Sean Cabrera – A Latino male in his early 40s, Sean is a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life.
Cody Cabrera – Sean’s whip-smart and rebellious teenage son. Known as the angriest kid in town.
Nancy Tompkins – A thirtysomething single mom to two kids, Nancy looks like the girl next door, but there’s an edge to her.
Nick Tompkins – Nancy’s screwed up teenage son. He’s too old to stay at home, too scared to flee.
Ashley Tompkins – Nancy’s mostly level-headed teenage daughter. Her ambition is in direct proportion to her older brother’s failures. She loves her mom but it’s time to get out of Dodge.
Andrea Chapman – A somewhat wilted flower child, fortysomething Andrea—yep, another Andrea!—has retreated to the outskirts of the city to recover after a horrible marriage.
