fuun-ishin-dai-shogun-01Originally simulcasting this past spring on Crunchyroll, The Anime Network has revealed a premiere date for Fuun Ishin Dai☆Shogun on their service. The twelve episode series will begin streaming on December 12th at 1:00am ET in its original Japanese language form with English subtitles. The announcement will likely coincide with the acquisition of the series by Sentai Filmworks as well. The property is an original work based on the story by Kazuya Sasakura that will be handled by JC Staff & ACGT with Takashi Watanabe directing. It’s bringing together giant robots and samurai with a good bit of romance as well by all appearances.

Plot concept: The arrival of foreign ships on the shores of Japan has been thwarted by giant robots called Onigami, and what would have been The Meiji Restoration has been completely erased from history. Now, in this new Japan isolated from the rest of the world, one man has the power to summon forth the might of the Onigami once again… as long as he remains a virgin. But with a beautiful ninja warrior at his side, will Keiichiro be able to focus long enough to defeat the evil forces now threatening Japan?
