Madman Acquires ‘Sailor Moon’ & ‘Sailor Moon Crystal’ Anime Series

2 min read

Sailor Moon Crystal Neon AlleyMadman Entertainment has made a big pick up for the Australian and New Zealand market with Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal. The company has picked up DVD, Blu-ray and digital rights for the original series across all two hundred episodes as well as the feature films and specials, largely mirroring the deal that Viz Media made with their North American acquisition. The company will be bringing out the first twelve episodes of the classic show on Anime Lab for streaming with more to follow throughout 2015. Release dates for the DVD and Blu-ray sets and what their deluxe editions will be like are to come soon.

The acquisition of Sailor Moon Crystal has less details to it as one would expect. Anime Lab will be streaming it going forward and a home video release will be coming in the future with no timeline presented yet as it’s just getting its Japanese release underway.

Plot concept: Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, and Sailor Mars continue their quest for the Legendary Silver Crystal as two new powerful allies join the fight. Sailor Jupiter is the tall and tough Guardian of Thunder, and Sailor Venus is the Guardian of Love and the most experienced member.

Sailor Moon herself gets an impressive new power and learns more about the mysterious Tuxedo Mask. Could their distant past be intertwined, and does that have anything to do with the Moon Princess they seek? The final ordeal with Queen Beryl looms on the horizon, and it will take everything the Sailor Guardians have to be victorious!
