Ridley Scott Talks ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel Plans

2 min read

Blade RunnerAt 76, Ridley Scott continues to work more than a lot of young buck directors and he’s just keeping involved in a lot of things. One of those is the Blade Runner 2 film, which he became attached to again after years of staying away from genre films for a variety of reasons. With Prometheus having sparked him back to the genre, and his early works, he’s now provided a few tidbits on the sequel that has been in the works for a bit. According to Scott, the plan is to start filming in 2015, but he’s opted not to direct it himself due to other committments.

“[Screenwriter Hampton Fancher and I] talked at length about what it could be, and came up with a pretty strong three-act storyline, and it all makes sense in terms of how it relates to the first one.”

As for the involvement of Harrison Ford, which will add a lot of grist to the mill about his character from the original film, he said, “Harrison is very much part of this one, but really it’s about finding him; he comes in in the third act.”

Original Film Concept: n a signature role as 21st-century detective Rick Deckard, Harrison Ford brings his masculine-yet-vulnerable presence to this stylish noir thriller. In a future of high-tech possibility soured by urban and social decay, Deckard hunts for fugitive, muderous replicants – and is drawn to a mystery woman whose secrets may undermine his soul.
