The reveal of the high definition release of the Hurricane Polymar series earlier this year from NBC Universal Japan certainly got a lot of fans excited and as we get closer to the release, they’ve unveiled the full packaging design for the show as well as a new TV spot for it. This all follows up the comparison video that we got recently as well that shows the upgrade in quality between the DVD release and the new release. Colors aren’t anywhere near as washed out and you can definitely tell that a lot more of the traditionally animated materials details are coming to life.
The series is now set for a December 26th, 2014 release in Japan on Blu-ray for 35,000 yen. The set is coming on the 40th anniversary of the series original broadcast and will include all twenty-six episodes that are working off of a new master. With the materials being original film source, this won’t be an upscale and provided the materials are in good shape, it should look amazing compared to what’s been released previously. No details have been provided and we certainly don’t expect there to be subtitles, though one could hope that Anime Sols and NBCU could figure something out to make it a reality, though at this late stage it’s probably too far into the production stage to be changed easily.
Plot Concept: Straight out of tokyo plus, a high-Tech research center, arrivesa new innovation of “MAN-MACHINE” system, polymar, developed by the late dr. Oregar. Tragically, dr. Oregar and his efforts are dematerialized as the catsharks, loyal subjects of nova, steal this new technology for their own devious plans.
