After getting a tease of a date last week for the new 2015 Dragon Ball Z feature film, the details have started to land through an ad revealed in this weeks V Jump magazine. With a full page splashy ad, we get to see the April 18th, 2015 2D and 3D release of Dragon Ball Z: Fukkatsu no F. The feature is the second one to come out after the 2013 theatrical film Dragon Ball Z: Battle Of Gods, which brought in $50 million at the box office and had a good international run overall, proved there was money yet to be made from this storied franchise.
The big and obvious piece here is that with Frieza being back, well, it’ll draw in a whole lot of people. Resurrecting the character may annoy some, but for a many fans of the original franchise, it’s a chance to get one of the better villains of the series a new lease on life on the big screen.
The film doesn’t have a lot in the way of details otherwise, noting that Akira Toriyama is heavily involved with the concept, screenplay and character designs and that Tadayoshi Yamamuro, who worked as the animation director on the original series, is on board to direct this feature.
Plot concept: An Earth where peace has arrived. However, remnants of Frieza’s army Sorbet and Tagoma (from the Japanese word for ‘egg’) arrive on the planet. Their goal is to revive Frieza with the dragon balls. Their dastardly wish is granted, the “F” that plans its revenge against the Saiyans is revived…!
