‘Tis the season for ghosts and goblins. Everywhere I look, people are celebrating monsters. What is it about the dangerous, deadly, and macabre that ignites our imaginations as the days grow shorter? Is it the comforting feeling we get when we can close and lock our doors? The thrill of the unknown that lurks around the next corner? The mystery of the true nature of the sweet old man who lives next door?

Let’s all get our groove on and do the “Monster Mash” like this young Lord Vader. It’s time to celebrate the monsters of Star Wars!

The fate of those tossed into the Sarlacc pit always makes me shiver. “In its belly, you will find a new definition of pain and suffering as you are slowly digested over a…thousand years.”  Yes, thanks for that tidbit C-3PO. That’s why there’s something deliciously appealing about this cake. Kathleen Siegle, at “Yummy Crumble” gives us the perfect way to turn the tables on the Sarlacc. Hopefully it won’t take you a thousand years to digest this treat!

As if Tusken Raiders aren’t terrifying enough, Funko has created a mashup with the raider and a mummy! They have also monsterified several other Star Wars creatures like Yoda, stormtroopers, and Jawa. Did you know that the sound of the Tusken Raider is just modified donkey braying?

Sometimes you need to just take something terrifying and make it cute instead. This adorable amigurumi Wampa from the MysteriousCats Etsy shop does just that. If I can snuggle it and prop it on my bed at night, it loses a lot of the fear factor! You can also check out my post from a few years back for more fun Wampa related gear.

Monsters can be creepy, but ultimately the most frightening monster is humanity gone wrong. What makes us turn to the dark side? Anakin is a prime example of letting the darkness within take over. That, I think, makes him one of the scariest Star Wars monster of all…
