First ‘Terminator: Genisys’ Images Revealed

2 min read

Terminator GenisysWith the upcoming release date of July 1st, 2015 for Terminator: Genisys, the marketing side really needs to get into gear, especially to get the long time fans on board with it. They’re just starting to do that now as Entertainment Weekly has a look at the cast in their outfits with two new covers that you can see below showing off several of the human characters and one of the Terminators.

According to EW, “Sarah Connor isn’t the innocent she was when Linda Hamilton first sported feathered hair and acid-washed jeans in the role. Nor is she Hamilton’s steely zero body-fat warrior in 1991’s T2. Rather, the mother of humanity’s messiah was orphaned by a Terminator at age 9. Since then, she’s been raised by (brace yourself) Schwarzenegger’s Terminator—an older T-800 she calls “Pops”—who is programmed to guard rather than to kill. As a result, Sarah is a highly trained antisocial recluse who’s great with a sniper rifle but not so skilled at the nuances of human emotion.”

We also get Producer David Ellison chiming in with, “Since she was 9 years old, she has been told everything that was supposed to happen. But Sarah fundamentally rejects that destiny. She says, ‘That’s not what I want to do.’ It’s her decision that drives the story in a very different direction.”

The plan at this point is for the second film in the new trilogy to be released on May 19th, 2017 while the third installment will land on June 29th, 2018. With the way dates fill up pretty far out, it’s not a surprise to see more forward planning like kthis.

The first film is set for a July 1st, 2015 release with a supporting TV series planned as well. The film will be directed by Alan Taylor and stars Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Day Okeniyi, Matt Smith and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
