Casting rumors are certainly running wild for what could be one of the more intriguing projects Warner Bros. has as part of their slate of DC Comics films. With director David Ayer putting things together now after Fury has done well in the box office and his intent of making a Dirty Dozen with supervillains ahead of him, it’s now being teased out through certain sources that Cara Delevingne may be courted to take on a villainous role for the film. We’ve already had Margo Robbie attached to the film in the speculative state, and most assumed a Harley Quinn role, but it’s also something that Delevingne could fill as well. The twenty-two year old model/singer/actress doesn’t have a wide slate of films under her belt yet but has been going at it pretty well in small films since 2012.
While Harley Quinn wasn’t involved in the original draft of the film, it wouldn’t be a surprise to bring her in. There aren’t a lot of female characters attached to the group in the 275+ issues they’ve appeared in since the 1980’s. Others include Barbara Gordon as Oracle, Black Orchid, Cameron Chase, Cheetah, Duela Dent, Eliza, Enchantress, Jess Bright, Jewelee, Katana, Killer Frost, Knockout, Nightshade, Plastique, Poison Ivy, Shrike and Vixen among others. And that’s without potentially gender-swapping another villain.
Recently announced 2016 film Suicide Squad, which is being helmed by Fury director David Ayer. Ayer boarded the project recently and is in the process of doing the expected rewrite of the script to make it more his own. It has previously reported that Will Smith and Tom Hardy are being sought to star in the film along with Margo Robbie, all three of which are supposedly close to finalizing deals for the “Dirty Dozen with Villains” as Ayer called it.
Plot concept: A group of supervillains are brought together to tackle high-risk black ops missions for the government.
