It’s still surprising in a lot of ways that FUNimation is able to do subtitled clips of at least some of their simulcast shows. It’s an ideal way to do a little extra marketing and bringing them out after the first big rush of new shows helps to remind fans about series they may have missed the first time around. They’re back with a new one today as they have a minute long look at one of the early key parts to the series Akatsuki no Yona, aka Yona of the Dawn. FUNimation simulcasts the series on Tuesdays at 11am ET here.

The series will run for two seasons over the course of half a year. The manga began in 2009 in Hana to Yume and is still ongoing with over eleven volumes so far. The anime adaptation is being produced by Studio Pierrot with scripts by Shinichi Inotsume. The cast includes Chiwa Saito as Yona, Tomoaki Maeno as Hak Son, Junko Minagawa as Yoon, Masakazu Morita as Ki-Ja, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Shin-Ah, Junichi Suwabe as Jae-Ha, Hiro Shimono as Zeno and Yuusuke Kobayashi as Soo-won.

Plot concept: Akatsuki no Yona centers around the princess of the Kingdom of Kouka, Yona. Despite her father’s disapproval, she’s in love with and plans to marry her cousin, Soo-won. However, her world gets turned upside down on her 16th birthday, and she is forced to flee from the palace. Now, with her friend and bodyguard Hak, Yona must set out on a journey to find out and fulfill her destiny.
