With a strong box office that has it positioned as the third biggest film of the ten films Marvel Studios has put out, it’s no surprise that an animated series is in the works for Guardians of the Galaxy. Announced earlier this summer, the first promotional video for it and character poster has arrived via the New York Comic Con. It’s pretty likely that this will work in the similar way to what Disney is doing with Lucasfilm in regards to Star Wars Rebels with a rollout on Disney XD to beef up the boys side of the audience, and potential for other properties to make the leap into animated form as well. No premiere date is set yet, not has the cast been revealed.
Plot concept: The Guardians of the Galaxy animated series will attempt to replicte the movie’s offbeat humour and that it WILL pick up where the James Gunn helmed release left off and that Thanos will figure prominently in the show. It will likely be a very loose follow up to the movie then, but not one which have a significant impact on the 2017 sequel.
