The fall 2014 anime series Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai has landed this weekend in Japan and in North America with FUNimation simulcasting and now we’ve got a look at the Japanese home video release plans. The series has a six volume release plan ahead of it in Japan where it’ll begin with the first one on December 25th, 2014 and new volumes following monthly. The first volume is coming in three flavors, with details of them to be solicited to retailers later. The limited edition Blu-ray release is priced at 7,800 yen for the first volume while the remainder at 7,000 yen each. The regular edition Blu-ray is priced at 6,800 yen for the first and 6,000 yen each for the rest. And finally, the first DVD is priced at 5,800 yen while the rest are 5,000 yen each.
Produced by Hoods Entertainment, the series will be directed and designed by Team Niko, which is made up of Kenichi Konishi, Tomomi Kamiya, Asami Sodeyama, Kaori Hayashi, Yu Nobuta. Series composition is handled by Kyioko Yoshimura and all of it is working off of the original story by August and character designs by Bekkankou.
The series stars Junji Majima as Kyotaro Kakei, Madoka Yonezawa as Tsugumi Shirasaki, Yuka Saito as Tamamo Sakuraba, Nozomi Yamamoto as Senri Misono, Eri Sendai as Kana Suzuki, Atsumi Tanezaki as Nagi Kodachi, Showtaro Morikubo as Ikkei Takamine, Saki Nakajima as Maho Mochizuki, Rina Sato as Miyu Serizawa, Miyu Kashiwagi as Sayumi Ureshino, Kei Mizusawa as Aoi Takigawa, Yo Taichi as Sayori Shirasaki, Taiten Kusunoki as Nanai and Satoshi Tsuruoka as Gizaemon.
Plot Concept: The story is set at Shiomi Academy, a vast, prestigious academy with a Daitoshokan (literally, “great library”) that rivals Japan’s national library. As a member of the Library Club, Kyōtarō Kakei goes to Daitoshokan to enjoy reading by himself. He then meets a second-year girl named Tsugumi Shirasaki through the efforts of a so-called “shepherd” who fulfills people’s wishes. Eventually, more girls join the club thanks to the “shepherd.”
