FUNimation is continuing to expand slowly but surely the content available on their million+ strong subscriber account on YouTube, and the latest on delves into Tokyo Ghoul. The piece is a nearly six minute long interview with director Shuhei Morita, who has just come off of being nominated for an Oscar with his short story work. The interview piece covers some of the basics to be sure such as how did you get into directing, view of the series and approach to it, but there’s some interesting nuggets in there for fans or those that enjoy hearing a director talk about their work.
Series concept: In modern day Tokyo, society lives in fear of Ghouls: mysterious creatures who look exactly like humans — yet hunger insatiably for their flesh. None of this matters to Ken Kaneki, a bookish and ordinary young man, until a dark and violent encounter turns him into the first ever Ghoul-human half breed. Trapped between two worlds, Ken must survive the violent conflicts of warring Ghoul factions, while attempting to learn more about Ghoul society, his newfound powers, and the fine line between man and monster.
