Sword Art Online II | Episode 13 (Mid-Season Finale)
Sensuifu: Unsurprising to say the least.
And it’s a bit hilarious to see that Kirito would auto disconnect upon dehydration. Um…Hello? Aren’t you in a facility that can administer IVs to prevent that from happening?
yeah, I had a feeling this Shinkawa dude would eventually break out in yandere mode. Typical, psychotic behavior from an obsessed stalker makes for some trite drama.. And if not in-game, at least Kazuto Kirigaya knows how to play the knight in regular attire in the real world.
Now I’m more interested how all this will followup with Seijirou, now that they know who the attackers really are.
General Hentai: Well played. Though the OP did seem to be pointing at this outcome with flashing neon lights. It was either going to be him, or a random person, which isn’t this author’s style. There seem to be 3, at least, however, as Kirito had already guessed, and which Shinkawa seems to confirm when he says he’s “one of Death Gun’s hands.” it doesn’t seem he’s talking about his brother, and Death Gun killed off someone else in the game…
I agree, it doesn’t seem we have anywhere near the time to get to the next MMO, the Alicization Arc, which currently spans 7 volumes. By comparison, Aincrad consisted of 1 volume for the main story, and a second with side stories, most incorporated into the anime, and Fairy Dance, the ALO story, was told over 2 volumes. Looking at the novel list, there are two stand alone volumes between GGO and the next major arc, so I expect that’s where we’ll head next.
GingaDaiuchuu: So that was the case after all. I always figured it might given the OP’s teasing of having Death Gun engulfed in flames to reveal Shinkawa (and with previous episode making sure to point out that Sterben was a medical term despite the apparent lack of any greater significance at the time), but I was starting to doubt myself given his depiction. I should really know to expect Sword Art Online characters to suddenly show themselves to be as different from how they’ve presented themselves as possible by now, though, and this sure was one of those moments. It would be nice if Kawahara could write an antagonist who was actually a regular human being one day.
Oh by the way, when Kirito figured out where the real-world Death Gun was and he knew the camera was focused on him, especially when they had some time to themselves, it probably wouldn’t have been a terrible idea to yell “HEY SOMEONE GO TO HER HOUSE RIGHT NOW!”
So we’re out of the game. Curious to see how this second cour will go.
Sly05: Creepy wannabe boyfriend turns out to be creepy wannabe murderer. Shinkawa turning into a raving lunatic was eye roll inducing though pretty typical of villains written by the author (as GingaDaichuu mentioned above). Of course, it is Kirito who comes to the rescue in the real world. Given they thought a murderer was in Sinon’s apartment, you’d think they’d really be on top of getting the police there immediately, but hey, it’s SAO! Kirito needs to rescue those damsels. They’re lucking the attacker wasn’t an adult or someone who might decide to murder Sinon before leaving to get revenge for their defeat in the game.
It looks like the next episode should finish the GGO arc and provide a bit of an epilogue before we get a new story arc. Will it be a new game or will we revisit one of the old ones?
