2 min read

New Getter RoboBandai continues to bring out a few anime series that it has rights to in the digital distribution realm even though physical media releases are off the table. The last week has seen two Bandai Entertainment series come out with the Please Teacher and Please Twins. Now they’ve got another title up on the Hulu service with the Geneon Entertainment release New Getter Robo. The thirteen episode series is now available on the service in both English language and Japanese language with English subtitles. Those with a Hulu Plus subscription can watch this show on their TV and mobile devices.

The series is an alternate retelling of the Getter Robo story that’s self contained. It originally came out as a thirteen episode OVA series released between 2004 and 2006 and was licensed and released by Geneon Entertainment. It was directed by Jun Kawagoe and was produced by Dynamic Planning and Bandai Visual with Brain’s Base handling the animation.

Plot concept: Giant monsters that evoke the ancient legends of Oni have descended upon Earth and have begun to attack the top secret facility in which Dr. Saotome has been hard at work creating an all-powerful robot. Known as Getter Robo, the machine is so technologically advanced that there is no opponent it cannot triumph over. But the robot is not finished yet, so Dr. Saotome recruits three young pilots to help battle the invaders.
