What better way to spend the last day of summer vacation.
What They Say:
Kou comes to a certain city, in search of his older brother Takumi, who ran away from home and disappeared. Thinking it’d be rather difficult to find his older brother, Kou decides not to go back until he finds him… but he ends up finding him immediately. However, when Kou is reunited with Takumi, he had become the head of the Mikuni Detective Agency. Takumi appears to have no intentions to go back home. Kou then decides that if his older brother isn’t going to come home, he’s going to stay at the Mikuni Detective Agency.

While parents tend to love the end of summer vacation, for kids it can be hell, especially those that didn’t do any of their summer homework. That’s the issue here as the gang has to help their resident child, Masashi, to go through with all of the homework he’s skipped this summer, which includes a whole lot of sketches and other creative artwork. It gets into some weird areas, no surprise when Kanno and Hanei are involved along the way, but it does what it can to be amusing as well. With that, journals and more to do, it runs the gamut nicely, especially as some adults just have fond memories since they don’t have to do it. There’s a lot of quick gags and most everyone gets their moment to shine, including a hilarious wiener drawing experience.
In Summary:
There are times like this where the show can use its time well enough that you can laugh and enjoy it and then become frustrated by the fact that even with this large cast, they can’t make it enjoyable week after week. With Masashi skipping out on his summer homework, everyone pitches in to very weird effect and they tackle a lot of stuff without the hyper intensity we usually get, making for a cute four minute episode.
