Ai Mai Mi Episode 7
Ai Mai Mi Episode 7
It’s time to get serious. Yeah, right…

What They Say:
Three girls in the manga club, Ai, Mai, and Mii, battle with evil Earth invaders, face off against rivals in tournaments, and might not actually draw any manga.

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
While we get a serious feeling prologue piece here with Ai and Mai having not read the manuscript, the show shifts quickly into the actual story before ejecting it completely. The two end up back in school to give Mii the manuscript that they’ve come up with for the doujinshi that they want to do and they’re so proud and superior about its quality that they can’t understand why Mii rejects it outright. Having gotten someone else to write it for them certainly didn’t help, but when they go to return it to get their money back it turns into a nonsensical semi-tentacle fight scene. It’s all just so random that while we’ve had some decent episodes this season, this one feels full on like a first season episode.

In Summary:
Mi’s doujinshi push has her doing her best, but it’s all background material as the focus is on Ai and Mai doing what they can to help out but failing at the one thing they were given. While there’s some weird humor to work with that I suppose some could laugh at, a lot of what we get here is actually just kind of bland and uninteresting. It’s not even hyperkinetic and going into overdrive to get things done. Which is, as problematic as it is at times, one of the shows saving graces.
