While something formal and concrete feels like it’s still a long way off, Dwayne Johnson is becoming more blunt in his talk about a Shazam movie while out doing press for Hercules. The actor has been coy for the last few months in talking about being involved with a DC Comics film property and we’ve long known his interest in the Shazam world with Captain Marvel and Black Adam. Now he’s saying it out in a clearer fashion that he’s going to play either of the characters. The safe money is on him being Black Adam, especially since it’s a character he’s campaigned to be for several years now.
“I am putting my heart and soul and my bones into this role,” he said.
Back in 2011, Johnson said:
“I haven’t let it go. I love that idea,” he said. “I’ve always loved the idea of playing Black Adam.”
“In Hollywood, a lot of times when something is in development, it just takes a lot of time,” he said of the delays. “So it’s in development hell right now. Who knows what’s going to happen with that. Maybe, maybe not — I’m always here.”
