While it’s limited to 480p only, it’s still worth watching if you’ve never seen the film for Revolutionary Girl Utena. After previously adding the TV series onto YouTube, Manga Entertainment handled the digital distribution for Nozomi Entertainment to bring the dubbed version of the film a few months ago. Now they’ve added the Japanese language version with English subtitles. Running for 90 minutes, the film was originally released in 1999 and is formally known as Revolutionary Girl Utena: Adolescence of Utena. The film was originally release din the US by Central Park Media and was picked up as a part of the overall package Nozomi Entertainment got for the series in the last couple of years. The feature was produced by JC Staff with Kunihiko Ikuhara directing the Yoji Enokido written script.

You can view the feature here.

Plot concept: This thrilling feature-length movie based on Kunihiko Ikuhara’s (TV’S SAILOR MOON) fan favorite series is a fun re-telling of this popular fantasy high school soap opera. Utena Tenjou arrives at Ohtori Academy only to be swept up in a series of duels for the hand of her classmate. At the same time, Utena reunites with Touga Kiryuu, a friend from her childhood who seems to know the secrets behind the duels. Utena must discover those secrets for herself, before the power that rules Ohtori claims her and her friends.
