There’s a lot of anticipation for the anime adaptation of the manga series World Trigger by Daisuke Ashihara and Shonen Jump Japan is getting into it themselves in a big way here. While a lot of eyes are focusing on the anime itself, they’re getting you to pay attention to the manga itself with a really slick promo that uses some good editing to make it pop and come to life for most of the two and a half minutes while also providing a few visuals from the anime adaptation itself. The series is being produced by Toei Animation and set for a Fall 2014 broadcast in Japan with an expected overseas simulcast as well. The timing works out well as the manga is being released here in the fall as well. Now the official Japanese side has updated with news of the voice cast for the series. Amusingly, they’ve given us the cast without detailing who will be taking on which role.

  • Yuuki Kaji as Osamu Mikumo
  • Nobuhiko Okamoto
  • Rie Kugimiya
  • Jun Fukuyama
  • Hideyuki Tanaka – Replica
  • Nao Tamura as Chika Amatori
  • Tomo Muranaka as Yuma Kuga
  • Yuichi Nakamura as Yuichi Jin

The upcoming anime adaptation is going to be working off the manga that began last year in Weekly Shonen Jump, which has been available digitally in North America to readers via Viz Media. They’ve got an October 7th, 2014 release date planned for the first installment in compiled form for North America. Check out the Japanese promo for the manga below.

Plot concept: Destroy thy Neighbor! A gate to another dimension has burst open, and invincible monsters called Neighbors invade Earth. Osamu Mikumo may not be the best among the elite warriors who co-opt other-dimensional technology to fight back, but along with his Neighbor friend Yuma, he’ll do whatever it takes to defend life on Earth as we know it.

Upstanding Osamu always does the right thing, whether it means pitching in to save Earth after school or turning the other cheek to bullies. But when he meets a feisty humanoid Neighbor named Yuma, everything that he thinks is right is turned on its head. Can the two natural enemies ever become friends?
