The BookScan numbers have landed for what’s going on in the retail channel regarding graphic novels and manga primarily and it’s definitely an interesting month. While it’s no surprise that once again Marvel Comics is off the list entirely as their book support is definitely weak, it’s great to see that Bryan Lee O’Malley has had such a strong showing for his new graphic novel Seconds.
On the manga side, Viz Media takes the top spot with their only book on the list with the latest Naruto while Kodansh Comics takes several spots, largely for Attack on Titan books – including No Regrets. Image Comics is light on The Walking Dead as we’re between seasons but they’ve got one on there as well as Saga scoring two spots for the first and third volumes. DC Comics takes a lot of spots and it’s really interesting to see how the little talked about Injustice: Gods Among Us continues to do really, really well in sales. A lot of their other books are pretty much Batman oriented, so there’s no surprises there.
