Hayley Atwell Talks ‘Agent Carter’ Character Development

2 min read

Agent Carter HeaderThe folks at TV Line had a good if brief sit down piece with Hayley Atwell to talk about her upcoming bridge series Agent Carter that comes out in early 2015 and she had some pretty fun things to say about it.

“My favorite part is something the audiences haven’t seen yet. It’s the development of her character throughout the series which will be someone who is kind of more three-dimensional, something that women can relate to, as not just the competent, strong, intelligent woman in this workforce, but the psychological, emotional cost. What it takes for a woman to have to sacrifcie personal relationships in order to find her place in the world and to fulfill her kind of destiny.”

Check out the full interview piece below about the show which has a late September filming date.

The first season will take place before the events of the One-Shot that we saw with the Iron Man 3 home video release and there will be the inclusion of one major Marvel villain, unnamed at this point of course, as well as the SDCC reveal that the original Edwin Jarvis will be a part of this show as well in some form, which we expect will nudge things towards the whole Howard Stark angle that in turn explains why Tony Stark calls his computer butler JARVIS.

ABC picked up the eight episode run of Agent Carter to serve as a bridge between the second season split of Agents of SHIELD so that both shows will get solid runs without a lot of gaps between them.

The series stars Hayley Atwell and is executive produced by Christopher Markus, Steve McFeely, Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Jeph Loeb

Plot concept: It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life–Steve Rogers.
