With the release date being today for Senran Kagura, FUNimation took to their blog last night to reveal that the release of the series has had a problem in its solicitation – which included their own listings on their shop – in that the OVA shorts are not included. These shorts, “Heart-Pounding Body Measurement Hide Hibari’s Nakedness!, I Want to Bury My Face in Those Breasts!, Ikaruga-Style Exercises!, Forbidden! Terror of the Off-Limits Room! and Rival Showdown Without Honor and Humanity!”, were listed on their solicitation information since at least mid-May but are not included in the release as they’re not part of the license that they got from the licensor. This isn’t an unusual situation in itself as shorts like these could be commissioned by the Japanese domestic market rights holder as a bonus to get fans to purchase, but aren’t available for the international rights licensor which is where FUNimation goes. They can and usually do work things out, but this time – and at the last minute – they did not.
We have recently been made aware of an error in listings for Senran Kagura: Ninja Flash! which stated that the release includes six OVA episodes. We do not have the rights to these extras, and they are not included on the release.
