Announced back in April 2014 as being set for an adaptation, The Seven Deadly Sins anime series is now set to debut in October 2014. The planning for the show is even a bit more formal as it’s being given a Sunday, October 5th 5pm broadcast on MBS/TBS, which is far more than we usually know for shows ahead of time.
The manga is created by Nakaba Suzuki with eight volumes in print so far and over three million copies in circulation total. Working in a similar vein as a few other properties of this nature, the manga has done the crossover gig with Fairy Tail before and you can imagine seeing that pop up in anime form as well as a special to promote it. The manga series began in 2012 and Kodansha Comics is bringing the series out this year for North American fans in print while Crunchyroll has the digital chapters being published on their site.
Plot concept: When they were accused of trying to overthrow the monarchy, the feared warriors the Seven Deadly Sins were sent into exile. Princess Elizabeth discovers the truth – the Sins were framed by the king’s guard, the Holy Knights – too late to prevent them from assassinating her father and seizing the throne!
Now the princess is on the run, seeking the Sins to help her reclaim the kingdom. But the first Sin she meets, Meliodas, is a little innkeeper with a talking pig. He doesn’t even have a real sword! Have the legends of the Sins’ strength been exaggerated?
