One of the more exciting things coming out of SDCC for me is the announcement that during the Teen Wolf panel, the series got its fifth season pickup. This falls in line with how the fourth season was announced back at NYCC previously. The fifth season is going to once again do things a little different as it’s getting a twenty episode run where it will be split into two ten episode seasons. The first, second and fourth seasons have been twelve episodes each while the third season, broken into two, was a twenty-four episode season. With this season, we’ll be at eighty episodes total.
No details about what the season will cover or which actors will be in it – which is always something you wonder about as we’ve lost a few along the way as others have joined. The series continues to do well ratings wise for MTV and it’s also one of the very few number of scripted series to hit the Weekly Top 10 that Nielsen tracks in terms of Twitter social interaction as it’s usually live programming that engages people the most.
