
With the series making its simulcast debut recently, we’ve also got word on what the Japanese home video plans are for Magimoji Rurumo. The series is getting a six volume run that begins a bit later than most of the summer series releases with an October 8th, 2014 debut. The Blu-ray releases will be priced at 6,500 yen each while the DVD releases are priced at 5,500 yen each. The first volume has some limited goodies with it as first press items that include a booklet and a card illustrated by the original creator. on disc extras include the clean opening and closings, the promo and TV spot collection and a cast commentary.
This series comes from the same creator as Yowamushi Pedal, which has gone over quite well. Originally running for seven volumes after starting in 2007 before completing in 2010 (which also gave rise to two more successive series from the same property), the series is being directed by Chikara Sakurai based on scripts by Mariko Kunisawa which will be animated by JC Staff. Character designs are set to be done by Kazuno Iwakura.
The series is bringing together a pretty fun group with Suzuko Mimor playing Rurumo, Makoto Takahashi as Kota Shibaki, Misato Fukuen as Chiro, Shizuka Ishigami as Sumiko Inoue and Yurika Endo as Tanako Kujirai. Newly revealed actors include Juri Nagatsuma as Maaya Sawashita, Mari Shiraishi as Kyōko Izumi, Minami Takahashi as Masako Shimomura, Junji Majima as Sempai, Hiro Shimono as Nishino, Haruki Ishiya as Sugawara and Yusuke Kobayashi as Sakurai. Series lead Mimori will be handling the opening theme for the series while Yurika Endo will be doing the ending theme.
Plot concept: Based off a manga by Wataru Watanabe, the author of popular cycling manga Yowapeda, Magimoji Rurumo follows the story of a boy named Kota Shibaki, who suddenly gets a bunch of magical tickets one day. Rurumo, a witch that was demoted to an apprentice witch, uses these tickets as training in the human world, and Kota can use these tickets to grant wishes, which are part of Rurumo’s training.
