2 min read

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Stardust CrusadersThere’s been an interesting upswell in interest in the long running and popular Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure this past year and Viz Media made more of it this weekend at Anime Expo. Following the convention, the publisher has talked a bit about their plans for the series. The company is bringing out the third act of the series with Stardust Crusaders in print and digital form, where the first two parts are now available digitally for readers. They’re going to be releasing subsequent volumes every week until they get the sixteen volumes of it out there. These digital releases carry an MSRP of $6.99 US/CAN.

Viz Media previously brought this work out back in 2005 and the digital releases are designed to raise awareness a bit more, tied in with the anime season broadcast, as well as getting people excited for the next phase. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure – Phantom Blood is scheduled for digital release in September 2014 and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure – Battle Tendency is set for March 2015, so getting a lot of content out there now makes it easy to delve into this intriguing world. The books will be getting print runs as well in February 2015 and Fall 2015 respectively.

“VIZ Media’s original publication of the JOJO’S BIZARRE ADVENTURE STARDUST series story arc complemented the anime counterpart’s North American broadcast run and fan interest has endured ever since,” says Leyla Aker, Vice President, Publishing. “The series is a multi-generational paranormal adventure story with each section focusing on a different Joestar descendent as the main character. We’re very excited to bring this celebrated title back to North America and also give fans the opportunity to catch JOJO’S BIZARRE ADVENTURE from the very beginning later this Summer!”

Plot concept: In JOJO’S BIZARRE ADVENTURE, once there was a mighty bloodline of heroes: the Joestars. In the 1880s, Englishman Jonathan Joestar gave his life to defeat Dio, a megalomaniacal vampire. Now, 100 years later, Dio is back, and Jonathan’s descendants must travel to Egypt to destroy their ancestral enemy once and for all.
