2 min read

Youkai WatchWhen it comes to shows that are squarely aimed at the younger set, it’s no surprise that they get DVD only releases in Japan – sometimes if they get releases at all outside of the rental market. Youkai Watch has been doing pretty well being based on a 3DS game with more coming and a push to make it a franchisable property and now Kadokawa has announced how they’re handling the sell through market for the series. The show is going to be released in a series of DVD-only box sets wit the first one set to land on October 29th, 2014. It’ll be priced at 7,344 yen and have nearly five hundred minutes worth of material as it covers the first twenty one episodes of the series. It comes with a poster and a special box while on disc extras include the song, the clean opening and closing and promotional presentations for the series.

Plot Concept: The story line of the game goes about the main protagonist named Keita who discovers at one hot summer day an old capsule toy vending machine in the forest. Keita receives a mysterious watch which he meets a ghost butler with the name Whisper. Whisper tells Keita that the watch allows him to see supernatural creatures that he could never see before in a everyday life. Keita alongside with Whisper and his companion Kabanya explorers his town to search for other ghosts to battle.
