Crunchyroll Adds ‘Akame ga Kill!’ For Summer 2014 Anime Lineup

Akame Ga KILL! CrunchyrollCrunchyroll has formally announced another of their summer 2014 anime simulcasts with the pickup of Akame ga Kill!. The series is scheduled to be simulcast starting on Sunday, July 6th, at 12;00pm ET for premium members and a week later for free members. The series comes from the manga of the same name by Takahiro and Tetsuya Tashiro. It’s directed by Tomoki Kobayashi (Galaxy Angel Z, Steins;Gate). Taku Iwasaki ( Black Butler, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) is composing the music. Soma Saito (Haikyu!!) will be voicing Tatsumi, joined by Sora Amamiya (One Week Friends and Tokyo Ghoul) as the Akame.

The series has a very good bit of availability to it as it’s open to audiences in the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Netherlands, Scandinavia, Latin America and Turkey.

Plot concept: Under the rule of a tyrannical empire, Tatsumi, a young swordsman, leaves his home to save his poverty stricken village. He meets a girl named Akame, an assassin who was bought, brainwashed and trained to kill by the Empire. Akame is a member of the secret assassin group called “Night Raid” who use special weapons called Teigu. Together, Tatsumi and the members of Night Raid confront the corrupt empire.
