Crunchyroll Expands on Sword Art Online II Streaming Details

Sword Art Online II Key VisualCrunchyroll announced the second season to Sword Art Online in late May, but so far out in the schedule, they were scant on details. Now, with the series set to air next week, those have been updated. Sword Art Online II will be broadcast on Saturdays, beginning July 5th, 9:30 AM Pacific Time for premium members, with free viewers being able to watch it one week later.

Sword Art Online II will be available worldwide except for France, Switzerland, Belgium, Algeria, Monaco, Tunisia, Germany, Luxemburg, Austria, and Liechtenstein, China, Taiwan, Korea, India and Japan. EU territories (except UK and Ireland) will be delayed by one month. 

Also, beginning July 1st, Crunchyroll will be expanding the territories it is able to stream the first season of Sword Art Online and SAO: Extra Edition. On July 1st the following regions will be added: The Middle East, Africa, and Europe excluding France, Switzerland, Belgium, Algeria, Monaco, Tunisia; Germany, Luxemburg, Austria, Liechtenstein, Italy, San Marino, Vatican, Malta, and Monte Carlo.

Plot Summary: Based on the light novel by written by Reki Kawahara, the Sword Art Online series continues into its second season. One year after the SAO incident, Kirito is approached by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Department, Seijiro Kikuoka, with a request to enter other VRMMO called Gun Gale Online (GGO). Kikuoka informs Kirito that, “Players who are shot by a mysterious avatar with a jet black gun lose their lives even in the real world…”

Unconvinced that the virtual world can affect the real world, Kirito logs on to GGO, wandering in an unfamiliar world in order to investigate the “Death Gun” incident. He is joined by a female sniper named Sinon who owns a gigantic “Hecate II” rifle. The two decide to enter the “Bullet of Bullets,” a large tournament to choose the most powerful gunner within the realm of GGO, in hopes of making direct contact with the mysterious avatar behind the “Death Gun”.
