After some fun at the pool, the show shifts gears here as Suzu is home sick and that has her not feeling well enough that her mother makes sure she doesn’t go to school. But when that news hits school, Yachiyo takes it very, very hard in a comically dramatic way as all she wants is to see her friend to make sure she’s alright. What makes it better and worse is that she’s told sick girls are 30% cuter and that leaves her so conflicted that she actually skips class to see her, which is a little unnerving. There’s some fun interplay between the two, especially since Yachiyo wants to get sick and spend even more time with her. There’s definitely a cuter Suzu because of all of this to be sure.
In Summary:
While Suzu is certainly cute as she’s all up in her blankets and being taken care of, the show knows the fun is having Yachiyo react to the situation at school and then to deal with it in the best way possible. She’s not ridiculously over the top but she hits the expected comedic notes as she skips out of school and becomes entranced by the cuteness of sick Suzu. It’s simple, as it should be for a short show like this, and you have to smile at how well it works in the space of a couple of minutes to provide a few laughs with a gag story like this.
