Though he certainly doesn’t fit what you’d consider the typical casting for Aquaman, things appear to have firmed up and Jason Momoa will take on the role in the DC Cinematic Universe. With the recent reveal that there will be a sprawling interconnected nature to the films that comes from Batman V Superman, it’s expected that Momoa will have a small role that will have him become the central figure in the Justice League film. The scuttlebutt is that the events from Man of Steel have given the king of Atlantis reason to deal with the surface world after the World Engine caused so much devastation and that forces the coming together of the Justice League to deal with him, which in turn can draw him into it as well.
Momoa isn’t exactly a household name but he’s definitely been a genre favorite for his bit in the role of Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones and he did a serviceable job with the script that was given to him for the attempted Conan The Barbarian relaunch.
Batman V Superman already has the two title characters in it and we know Wonder Woman and Cyborg will have cameo moments as well.
