Posters for theatrical films have been on the weak side for several years now when it comes to the mainline ones that are out there, which is unfortunate since there’s little that you’d want to put on your wall. Next month’s release of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes on July 11th, 2014 definitely looks like one that might buck the trend and definitely appeal to both new and old fans of the franchise. Check it out below.
The film is being directed by Matt Reeves and will star Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell. It has a $120 million budget, a nearly $30 million increase over Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but expected as that film brought in nearly $480 million theatrically worldwide and was a surprise hit for many.
Plot concept: A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
