While anticipation for many is kind of muted on the August 22nd, 2014 debut of Sin City 2, I’m in the eagerly awaiting camp since it looks to do the best it can to recapture the fun of the first and just run with it. With a number of good stories to work with and improved visual effects since then, and some solid casting along the way as well, there’s a lot to look forward to here. Ahead of its release, the next phase of marketing has landed with a set of five character posters that plays to the comic book side of it with the narration boxes and some good, clean and fun looking character pieces.
Directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez based on the graphic novels of the same name, the film stars Joshn Brolin, Eva Green and more such as Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dennis Haysbert, Christopher Meloni, Jeremy Piven, Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, Stacy Keach, and Julia Garner.
Plot concept: Sin City: A Dame to Kill For weaves together two of Frank Miller’s classic stories with new tales in which the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more repulsive inhabitants. In Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to “The Big Fat Kill” (featured in the film Frank Miller’s Sin City) and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.
