With the pickup last week by ABC for The Whispers, we get one of the quieter science fiction series of the fall season acquired. Coming from Amblin TV and known as The Visitors during its pilot production, the series is adapting the short story Zero Hour by Ray Bradbury. The Upfront presentation has revealed the trailer for it which of course utilizes material from the pilot, so it’s just a first blush look at what’s to come. The show stars Lily Rabe as Claire Bennigan, Barry Sloane as Wes Lawrence, Milo Ventimiglia as John Doe/Drew Bennigan, Derek Webster as Jessup Rollins, Brianna Brown as Lena Lawrence, Catalina Denis as Dr. Maria Martinez, Kylie Rogers as Minx Lawrence and Kyle Harrison Breitkopf as Henry.

The series is based on the Ray Bradbury short story Zero Hour, which was part of the 1951 novel The Illustrated Man. ABC Studios is producing and it’s being developed by Amblin with Dawn Olmstead and writer Soo Hugh, who worked on The River and Under The Dome.

Plot concept: Aliens have invaded Earth by using our most unlikely resource to achieve world domination—our children. As the kids unwittingly help these unseen enemies, the clock counts down in this suspenseful race to save humanity.
