Every year looks like it’s going to have some big pictures, but 2016 is certainly shaping up as we now get a theatrical release date for the new Harry Potter universe film with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The feature, the first of a planned trilogy that goes back several decades before the beloved Harry Potter series, is scheduled for a November 18th, 2016 release date. No details about the production have surfaced yet but with other 2016 films starting up production as this year gets on, we expect we’ll be hearing more of this J.K. Rowling work and what they’ll bring into it.
Plot concept: Set initially in New York about seven decades before the start of the Harry Potter story, the films will follow “magizoologist” Newt Scamander as an extension of the wizarding world — rather than being prequels or sequels.
