With X-Men: Days of Future Past set to land in just a couple of weeks, the red carpet events are out there and you can get some interesting people to make comments out there. The latest one that hits in a surprising way is that we get producer Lauren Shuler Donner out there talking about the film and she gets asked about Channing Tatum as Gambit, which surfaced last month in that he was taking a meeting or two with the producers for X-Men: Apocalypse. So when asked, she quickly says yes and then follows it up with:
“Well you know he’s a rogue, Channing. He’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau, and he can handle the action, we all know that. He’s got a really good heart, because I know him personally, I did a movie with him. So I think he’ll be great, he’ll be great for Gambit, and he’s a southerner too, he’s not from New Orleans but he is a southerner and he understands that world, and you know Gambit loves New Orleans.”
Yes, Channing Tatum will play Gambit. Yes, it will be for a standalone movie. And yes, watch for him to be introduced in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE.
