With all the excitement about the fall 2014 season the past few days, especially for genre fans who are finding their schedule filling up quite a big without even taking the upcoming Syfy channel and other cable properties that are coming, there’s also a good bit of pain out there as well with a lot of cancellations. Deadline has put together a handy list of what’s been taken down over the course of the season with some that were wiped after one or two showings while others managed to get their whole run. On the genre side, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland misfired with its placement on Thursday nights instead of being a hiatus series for the main series. Almost Human had the odds stacked against it from the start with its premiere date delayed, sports delays and episodes aired out of order. Dracula wasn’t a surprise to see go down since it was a BBC/NBC co-production and Revolution managed to make it to a second season, though I gave up on it after the first five episodes of the first season. The CW lost two genre shows with mid-season series Star-Crossed not connecting at all and The Tomorrow People not finding its audience well enough nor finding its tone properly. But it at least mostly had a conclusion with an opening to go elsewhere, so it’s not horribly cut short even if it’s not friendly. Perhaps it can find a life in comics or novels?
