Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san Episode 5
When the cat and the rat play, anything is possible.

What They Say:
The series follows two high school girls; Yachiyo Inugami, a dog-like girl who loves cats, and Suzu Nekoyama, a cat-like girl who loves dogs, and the strange relationship their respective habits form.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Yachiyo’s desire to have fun is a regular thing and we see how she wants to go and do some karaoke, but she’s shot down a bit before things start coming together. While she’s keen, having been before with Aki, Suzu is in a kind of panic over it since she’s never been before so she seeks out some help from Nezu so that she’s not an utter embarrassment when they do go. Nezu is naturally pretty good and the two have a good bit of fun together, though it pushes some of Suzu’s personal space boundaries and her social skills are challenged. The pairing off of these two for the episode is definitely fun to watch since it carries so many undertones for the viewer that aren’t necessarily in the actual interactions, though Suzu certainly envisions them.

In Summary:
While we get Yachiyo as a bookend character, the focus on Nezu and Suzu definitely works well here since the two are fun together because of their different personalities. Nezu is a bit predictable to be sure, particularly with her style of speech, but the real fun for me was watching Suzu cope with the personal space issues while the viewer gets that leering creepy factor where you sense that Nezu is just going to pounce all over her. It’s a good bit of fun in just a few minutes that definitely makes you grin and laugh.
